  2. Homework 5

The use of video in analyzing performance is an appropriate method. It provides a visual reference and allows the player to see aspects of his performance he or she may not be aware of. It is very effective for a fast moving sport because the action can be paused replayed rewound or played in slow motion. This allows the performer to pause the action and get detailed feedback. A video recording also gives the player a permanent record so the player can compare it at a later date to see if there has been any improvement. A video recording can also be use by coaches and trainers to give advice or a second opinion about performance skills and techniques.
Another effective way of gathering data is by using a tick sheet. Tick sheets give clear statistical evidence so performance can be quickly and easily analyzed.A tick sheet can be made up before the performance and can be made up too suit the individual needs of the sport. It can collect a lot of information or it can concentrate on one small individual aspect of performance. The person completing the tick sheet must be fully aware of the system. A tick sheet is versatile because it can be made up from a live performance or either a video record. The information can be used in different ways to identify strengths and weakness and plan for improvements. This is a simple method of collecting data which anyone can use.
Personal thoughts and feelings are another way of gathering data about performance. This is an extremely easy way of get information as it relies on your own thoughts. This is not a very scientific method because as it can be effected by personal bias and the opinions of other people. Opinions can be more accurate if it it comes from either a coach expert or trainer but it would be better to be supported by more accurate scientific evidence.

One method of assessing Cardio Vascular Endurance is to use a Heart Rate Monitor. This allows you to measure your heart rate during the game or at specific points during the game. This can show you how hard the heart and blood system is working and how it is managing the demands of the game. It will enable you to get an accurate reading of heart rate during the game and this will allow you to compare results with past performance and future performance rates. It can identify strengths and weaknesses and helps you plan a training programme to improve performance.
The heart rate monitor is also appropriate because it can identify Recovery rates after high endurance aspects of a game. The heart rate monitor can be linked to a computer and the data saved. this can be used at a later stage for comparison with past performance. It can also help identify the training zone you should be working in to help improve your performance.
The heart rate monitor scores can also be used alongside other methods of gathering data. You could use an observation chart and tick chart or a video recording to cross reference results to improve your recording and your overall performance.
The heart rate monitor is also an appropriate method of assessing Cardio Vascular Endurance because the results can come instantly and it is very easy to use. When looking at Cardio Vascular Endurance with a heart rate monitor it allows you to compare first half and second half performances in a sport.
